Is a baby sling worth it for baby #2?

I purchased a baby sling a while back in anticipation of our second little girl. I had in my mind it would be easier to take her out and about in a sling, rather than in a carrier because then our 2 1/2 year old can still ride in the seat of a shopping cart or in the stroller. However, I'm starting to second guess my descision and wonder if it's just another baby gear item I'll use a handful of times, then not use again. What are your opinions? Did you use one with baby #2 and not the first?

I don't want to buy another stroller since my oldest will probably outgrow it in the next year or so. Also, how long can baby be carried in a sling?

(BTW- it's a baby sling and not one made to carry toddlers- I've seen ones like that though)

I used a sling all the time with my first child (the baby bjorn carrier) and plan to do the same with my next. I've had other parents tell me you'd be amazed at how your 2 year old will suddenly want to ride in the stroller seat or grocery chart once a sibling comes along! I loved the sling the first time around and found it much easier than a stroller for stores and other outings in crowded places. My son used it until about 5 months old before he got too big and active for me to carry comfortably. Since you already have it you might as well give it a try, you can always eBay it later.
