WHAT TO DO WHEN BABY IS CRYING?

I have a toddler 20 months, and a baby 8 months - I am sick, very sick with a virus. Baby is getting it, toddler is on antibiotics.
WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT BABY??? He's is inconsolable, won't stop crying - I can't carry him around, he won't let me. I tried a sling, he screamed. I tried the play pen for a nap, he screamed. I can't just let the toddler fend for himself, what do I do????????
I am at my wits end - completely - Daddy won't be home till 4 and my parents are away - Friends are all at work - What can I do??? I can't even think straight...
omg, he just had the worst diareah explosion... I think I've discovered why he is inconsolable - His tummy's off!!! I'm now holding him for a while - thank you so much for all the answers and idea's - I was really at the end of my rope!!!

First, take a deep breath.

Just do the best you can. I have 23 month old twins and a 3 month old and as awful as it is, sometimes my son just has to wait. I'm getting better at anticipating things but sometimes my toddlers need things and he is in a mood where he doesn't want to be put down but I have to put him down.

Your baby crying doesn't make you a bad mother. It's just a part of life when you have more than 1 child.

EDIT: If your baby is normally happy-go-lucky then it might be a good idea to call the pediatrician. She could have an ear infection or something.
