I want to get my bellybutton pierced but i play volleyball! Help?

So I have off from volleyball until mid to late July. I've been wanting my bellybutton pierced for a while now and it seems now would be the best time to get it done. I know that it has to stay in for at least 2 months, but after a month and a half I'd be risking it. I dive in volleyball, which is when I slide across the floor on my stomach. If I put a pad- medical pad that is- over the bellybutton ring, tape it onto my stomach, and then secure it on with an ace bandage or a bandage of some sort that would wrap around my abs, would that hold in it place?

Would you get it if you were in my situation? I am playing volleyball competitively- I play for my JV/V school and also for nationals...but now is the only time I can get it. HELP!!

Securing the piercing like you described would likely protect it pretty well, but could cause problems during the healing process. One, you will suffocate the piercing and prevent proper oxygen flow around the outside, so you increase the risk of developing an infection. Two, securing it tightly enough to prevent trauma could lead to too much pressure on the jewelry and the piercing, and this could lead to migration and/or rejection. I would not recommend getting this piercing. It can be a very hard piercing to heal, and navel piercings tend to be easily irritated for a full 6-9 months. I would recommend waiting until you no longer play volleyball or until you have a minimum of 6 months healing time before playing again.
