Frequently Asked Questions:

what's your favorite baby carrier?
i have the maya wrap and my son (7 weeks old) seems to really love napping in it, but i've seen the slings where it is a certain size (doesn't have rings for adjustment) and they seem really convenient without the extra fabric hanging down. i have the bjorn carrier too, but i dont like that baby either faces you or faces outward..is there a happy medium?
what is your favorite sling/baby carrier and why? which would you consider most versatile? and which one is good from birth and up?
Ms_S: i DO like my baby bjorn..i just would like that he was carried more to the side so i could see his face AND he could look out...not one or the other. the bjorn is a great carrier though...
Another Maya Wrap fan here.
I have a mei tai, an Ergo, a Hotsling; I've used a Bjorn, a padded ring sling...
The Ergo gets a lot of use but if I had to have just one it would be the Maya, which does great with my 10.5mo.
You can tuck the excess fabric around baby and into the side so it doesn't hang down. It also, I find, makes a nice "hood" for when baby wants to nap, and a passable emergency sun hat...
Getting baby into a pouch sling is a lot more of a pain than using the Maya, I find. It's nice that it's so small; it travels well, but if you get it on a bit wrong you'll feel it, and it's a bother to fix. Ring slings are much more forgiving.
