UK: Are revamping everything type 45 is the most advanced ship of it's type in the world and building two Supercarriers and 7-8 Astute Sub. Currently three aircraft carriers.
France: 1 Aircraft Carrier. Do not know much else.

Top Ten navies in the world - it is very hard how to establish this fact and as you get near the bottom it becomes even harder the Blue water navies are the only ones you have to worry about really. They are USA, PRC(sort-of), India, Russia, France and the UK(sort-of) and finally maybe Australia (in the future)

Firstly the USA is the largest by a long long way and have the crews and the money to defeat any other naval force on the planet. So they are No.1 whether you like it or not.

No.2 is a lot more difficult - maybe Russia - they have a large fleet as well - there only problem is they cannot crew it and then they have technology issues - however the Kremlin has announced large increase in Naval spending, new subs, new aircraft carriers, new crusiers

No.3 Is either us (UK) or France - france has 1 carrier to our 2 (3) however they have a much bigger carrier. The problem with the UK is that we are cutting the Navy to quickly - the Type 45 may have once been the most advanced - however we got rid of the type 42s before the type 45s and now have the problem that we have only 2 T45s and in battle they would be useless as there Sea Viper (PAAMS) system STILL does not work! The Astute class - 7/8 if them is very hopefull - start with a figure closer to 3/4!!! We are building 2 super carriers though 1 of those might be not built and the other may be turned into a LPH to replace HMS OCEAN. This is becasue current thinking is that we dont need a carrier only an aphimbious ship! Our Fixed-wing aircraft cant fly well and are worse becasue they scrapped the naval version of the harrier!

No.4 is really probably the UK - especailly the way the UK Governement is taking the Armed Forces!!

No.5 is the growing fleet of the Indian Navy! - They have a Carrier (Ex-HMS HERMES) and are waiting for anouther (from Russia). They have a large fleet of ships (destroyers and frigates and patrol ships) and anouther large fleet of subs. They have at least 3 SSBN and want more! They are growing and in truth are competing with the PRC in matters of asian prodimenance at sea. The winner of which will control anything from the sea and will be able to influence diplomacy through out the region. However there weaknesses are that they are not as well trainned and do not have the technologyand are only just starting to get the best equipment for their navy.

No.6 is a rising star and like india will go on to challenge the USA as a major naval power. The PRC will also want to become a major influencer in the Asian region as by controlling the water you can influence and decide issues around the area. Their navy is rapidly growing however they have not yet left "home waters" very much and have yet to have a Aircraft Carrier, however their are rumours of a gigantic aircraft carrier being built - about 2times the size of anything the US has - however there is no proof - we only know that they are building one - and it is the logical step to control and project power onto land from sea. They have a vast (but noisy and badly trainned) submarine fleet and their officers are thought to be poorly trainned and sons of party memebers - however all this is slowly changing as the PRC realises that the key to control in the region is to project Naval power. By building up their fleet they can possibly rival India (their local rival) and the USA - My thought would be to watch out for China in the next 10years as their resources are vast!

No.7 Would be Australia - recently worried by the rise of China and India and independance movements, Australia has announced massive increases to their military. In the near future this will, at this rate be bigger than the UK's. They have announced the idea for new subs, amphibious ships, frigates, destroyers and a carrier, fixed wing aircraft, Marines and an increase in the army and airforce as well. However they have also not announced any ships to be cut at all! This is a real increase rather than replacements.

Nos.8, 9 and 10 would be Japan, Spain and Turkey! In no particular order because they are about the same! But still ones to be reckoned with!
Forget Canada, Italy and South Korea as they are mostly costal defense forces and have many small ships but nothing to send to a blue water battle!

Its long but its what I think is correct - It is all about intrepting the data, which comes down to personal opinion. I do us (UK) down, but its the truth and it hurts but its only what i see and at the rate our Government cuts the Navy it will get worse! They forget that we our an island and throughout history we have needed a Navy to defend us and our dependancies - if there was anouther falklands war - we would most probably lose! We spend hundreads of billions more on health than we do on the Navy and defence!
