When will the fledgling blue jay fly away, so I can safely let cats in yard?

I found a baby blue jay on the porch of the house under a chair. I put it in a pet carrier, made sure all of my cats are in, and called animal control to look at it. It is a fledgling, so we put it back outside for the parents to care for it. They are feeding it, but he/she won't stay in the tree. I cannot let any of my pets into the yard (five of them) until the baby bird is old enough to fly away. When do you think that would be? He is mostly feathered out, blue, with a little bit of downy feather on him in a few spots. It's going going to be tough living with the pets until then. But I want to be safe.

The fledglings are supposed to be able to fly and stay high up in the trees. If not they are meant to be eaten by cats or other predators. Mother nature has it all set up like this. But keep the cats inside give it a try . Young birds grow very fast may be three day's will do it. Can he get out of the yard ? Can the neighbors cats get in ? Good luck .
