Ergo vs Mei Tai Babyhawk ?
My daughter is 10 months old and I need something to carry her in. She is around 20 pounds and hates the stroller and the buggy at walmart, target, etc. I dont' want something that is going to be too confining because she likes to be "free". I also want something that isn't going to poke, jab, or irritate me. I am pretty big chested (38 DDD), and I am somewhat overweight (I have about 40-50 pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight). I am a size 16 if that helps. I would also like to have this carrier for me to walk with her, so I can get out and try to get some of this weight off of me.
Any suggestions??
LOL! It's funny you should mention the Beco-I had a website pulled up for the Beco when you posted that
I have big boobies and we use an ergo with no problem. you can loosen the straps to fit to your body (and I've got plenty of room left on all of mine even with big boobs. I think they also have waist extenders that clip on to the waist strap so that you can make it bigger if you want. I'm not sure how the mei tai works because I've never seen it in person and you can't really see how it wraps/ties/snaps on to you (or whatever it does) but the ergo just clips together in two places and it's pretty structured and heavy duty which is good for a bigger toddler. the other carrier I've heard good things about is the beco which seems sort of like a hybrid of the two. they have a lot more designs for the beco than the ergo too. whoever is designing for ergo needs to get on the ball! you should look into the beco (sorry to give you more options).
