Anyone else's kiddo turn into a complete monkey once they were mobile??
In the last 2 weeks, my 9 1/2 month old has mastered crawling, rolling, scooting, pulling up to stand, cruising, and just in general getting into EVERYTHING. This morning I put the dog food on the kitchen table, and she sat and screamed at it for a while, then pulled out all the empty cereal boxes from the recycling to play with. Right now she's got a coaster, all her bibs, and the cereal boxes again. It's hilarious, and I don't want to hinder her exploration, but how the heck do I get anything done?? Now that she's into everything, I want the house cleaner than ever, but I'm too busy chasing her to do anything. I used to use a sling a lot, but she wants to be on the floor now. I finally broke out the play pen (aka "baby jail" according to hubby) - is that the only solution? Any other ideas ladies?
That gate is great, Hannah's Mommy. Our living room and kitchen are open to each other, too, so I've been looking for something like that, and that one is the cheapest I've seen!

We got this Superyard gate from Babies R us. We have a larger family room that open directly into the kitchen. We set this gate up opened to keep our daughter in the family room.
The gate can also be set up in an octagonal shape, so it can be used as a "playpen" but much bigger.
We totally baby proofed the family room, and her toys are in there. I can leave her in there to play while I cook dinner and pick up the house. It has been a total lifesaver for us. It is also good for us since it keeps our two dogs away from her. She thinks they are big toys to climb on and pull their hair!
