Help, breeding and looking after baby black mollies.?

I recently got a female and male black molly along with 2 babies the fish owner gave us.

The babies have disapeared, probably eaten.

I was wondering, how do i know the female is expecting, where to put her when she is having the babies and if i should put the babies in a breeding net or in another tank.

There is no real way to tell if a Black mollie is pregnet, but always suspect they are, unfortunatly the sure fire way is just by there anal fin there is a small sort of tringal shaped black sopt that appeares when they are pregnat, now of course a black spot on a black fish !!! i dont need to tell you the rest,

They do however adopt the usual signs of being pregnet belly getting large and trying to find quite spots in the tank, in some occasions they will stay nr the surface of the water if more fish are in the tank as well.

You dont always need a male in there to make it happen, a female can hold the males sperm and have about 6-7 loads of babies from just one mating session, this can last up to a yr.

I would sugest a small breading tank, they are cheap and easy to install, they sit over the lip of your tank and have a movable floor with holes or a gap in the middle, big enough for the babies to fall/swim into but they never swim out, i would sugest to put the female in there about 2-3 days before you expect her to drop ( may take a few goes to know when this is ) and then just wait,m once she has dropped wait about 12 hours then return the mother into the main tank and then remove the false floor in the breeding tank to give the babies room to swim,
About 7-10 days later it may be safe to release the babies into the comunity, i would sugest getting a new batch of weed and also some surface weed for the babies to hide into.
